WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item upgrades is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will display an image of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

upgrade item costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Item upgraders can be found in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Crests

Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
