How to Replace an replacement audi car key G28 Engine Speed Sensor
Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer located in the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, audi car key holder spare key (benson-church.blogbright.net) above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 using an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this information to control fuel and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.
The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can activate spark and injectors in the right way.
If this sensor fails the ECU will display a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync and could indicate the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However, the code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing is a bit challenging as there are two different connector pins and they have different functions but the best method of testing it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms if the sensor is at full operation. If you are having problems with this component, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a massive reduction in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, three were soaked with gazoline and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found zero ohm. So i assume the problem is somewhere else.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.
I don't know what to do. I think I've eliminated everything else. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them - just switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing up). They must be infinite ohms.
4. ECU
Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines have an ECU that needs to know the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing etc. To do this, it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these goes bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner which can lead to engine shutdown.
A failing G28 sensor audi spare key replacement could cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox, a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, or an unfire when in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you notice any of these symptoms. They're inexpensive and easy to locate especially if they're a Bosch model like ours. Alternately, GM's version this component is a good option.
5. Tachometer
A failing engine speed sensor could be the reason behind many issues in your car. It is a crucial part of the replacement audi a4 key's transmission as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is spinning. If this sensor fails, it can affect the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.
The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU then processes this signal to regulate fuel, timig and boost and then sends it on to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. You can also verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. You should detect a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms between these two points. This is the same across the audi remote key 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find some good ones in wrecking yards.
