WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade item also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will display an image of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.

This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making.
